Current Projects

The Art Guild

Glenn Truitt—owner of the 2nd Avenue Art Guild building located at 608 North Second Avenue—has recently made improvements to his property by removing the old aluminum awning and replacing it with a new, slanted canvas awning. This project was completed with the help of the new Facade Improvement Grant Program, which grants property owners up to 50% of the costs when making exterior improvements to their buildings that comply with the local Downtown Design Guidelines. This project is another excellent example of the progress being made to revitalize the downtown area.

Ensueno Hair & Boutique

Gema Lima—owner of Ensueno Hair & Boutique located at 612 North Second Avenue—is in the process of making several improvements to her historic downtown building. Part of the project includes removing the ceramic tile from the lower half of the building and replacing it with historically appropriate brick and stone. In addition, Lima plans to replace all of the display windows and frames, utilizing the Facade Improvement Grant Program to help pay for the improvements. A future improvement is to remove the metal awning.
